In 1997, 5 managers acquired the “Electrophotography” competence area, including equipment manufacturing, through a management buy-out and continued to run it independently as AEG Elektrofotografie GmbH. One year later, the equipment manufacturing department was transferred to a separate company, AEG E.M.I. Elektromechanische Industrielösungen GmbH & Co. KG, was established.
This was followed by the establishment of two subsidiaries abroad, APC in Hamilton (Ohio), USA and APS in Shanghai, China.
In the years from 2002 onwards, the Warstein-Belecke facility successfully started coating TFT X-ray panels for mammography applications.
Due to the lack of a succession plan, AEG Elektrofotografie GmbH was sold to the US company Hologic Inc. in 2006. As part of this corporate acquisition, AEG E.M.I. Elektromechanische Industrielösungen GmbH & Co. KG to AEG Elektrofotografie GmbH
